AP-X origins
As a passionate admirer of the NSX, its story has deeply inspired me to reimagine what it could look like in the modern age. My goal isn’t to reinvent the wheel but to pay homage to the original vision while embracing today’s advanced technologies and contemporary design philosophies. Just as the NSX combined Formula 1 innovation with aerospace-inspired design, my version seeks to blend the essence of the 1992 classic with the possibilities of today’s automotive landscape.

AP-X design
Design-wise, I’ve drawn heavily from the NSX’s timeless aesthetics—its low stance, aerodynamic curves, and fighter jet-inspired cockpit. However, these classic cues are reimagined with sharp, modern lines, integrated LED lighting, and a digital-first interior that bridges the gap between analog charm and futuristic tech. Think of it as a harmonious dialogue between past and present.

Modernizing the NSX Design Philosophy
With these fundamentals in mind, I set out to reimagine the NSX using today’s design tools and technologies. The design process began with sketches that combined the timeless proportions of the original with contemporary trends. The challenge was balancing nostalgia with innovation—creating a car that feels like a direct descendant of the 1992 NSX but is undeniably futuristic.

A tribute to a Legend
Ultimately, this modern vision of the NSX is not just about what a supercar can do—it’s about how it makes you feel. It’s a machine designed to evoke the same awe and inspiration that the original did over three decades ago, and I hope it serves as a worthy successor to one of the greatest cars ever made.

The Process
There’s a fine line between paying homage to the original and over-modernizing to the point where its essence gets lost. The 1992 NSX was a car that rewrote the rules, and its heritage is one of innovation, balance, and respect for the driver. I knew that every decision I made—every line I sketched, every technological feature I integrated—had to respect this legacy while pushing it forward. The weight of those expectations made this process both exhilarating and daunting.
For a project as ambitious as modernizing the NSX, Plasticity became an indispensable tool, enabling me to elevate my workflow and bring clarity and precision to the complex surfaces of the car.
Plasticity didn’t just improve the quality of the surfaces; it exponentially accelerated the design process. By removing the friction between ideation and execution, the software allowed me to spend more time exploring creative possibilities and less time troubleshooting technical limitations. This efficiency was invaluable in a project of this magnitude, where the stakes were high, and the legacy of the NSX demanded perfection.
The Weight of a Legacy
However, reimagining the NSX for the modern age came with its own set of challenges—challenges that often left me questioning whether I could truly do justice to its legacy. The NSX is not just a car; it’s an icon, a benchmark, and a cultural phenomenon that carries decades of admiration and respect. Tinkering with a legend is not something to take lightly. The thought of modernizing such an iconic piece of automotive history often left me feeling insecure, wondering if my vision could live up to the myth that the NSX represents.
