THE PATRIOT - M.H.C. 004

I grew up adoring the Viper because it was one of the first “super cars” I ever saw as a child.  The styling and power was so overwhelming.  My favorite version is the latest and last rendition of the Viper, the Gen 5 ACR.  For this concept, I went with keeping things relatively “stock” and adding my favorite parts from multiple different Vipers to make it look more aggressive.  I’m a big fan of time attack and it’s what fuels many of my builds, that endless pursuit of speed and control as you battle time.  So I figured, why not make this a time attack beast and strap two massive turbos to the already powerful V10 engine and have that sitting right behind the front wheels.  This build struck me instantly, and I saw it clearly in my mind before it was even made.  What a joy it has been to bring it to life.  I call this build The Patriot, because the Dodge Viper is the car representation of America, especially one that has twin turbos shooting flames from the sides.

I’m usually not a big fan of orange cars, but orange just fit this build so perfectly I couldn’t deny it!  With each build I try to push for personal growth, and with this one, I wanted to really push my abilities with a fully lit CGI studio scene yet still keep the car visually interesting.  It’s a fine line to ride when rendering images; if you go too far in one direction you lose the composition, and if you don’t follow basic compositional rules, you risk breaking the interest of the viewer.

A fun fact I discovered about the Viper ACR (American Club Racer) is that the width of the rear wing is massive! It’s 1776 mm wide which is also the year America declared its independence as a sovereign country.  One of the thidngs I love about building cars is trying to absorb as much info and data as possible in the process in order to fill my mind with context.  I have a long list of vehicles I adore and learning about each one as I build it is an added bonus to me.
