THE ZODIAC - M.H.C. 005

I first came across Lamborghinis military concept truck the Cheetah which I was totally blown away by and later discovered the LM002 which I of course fell in love with.  A super car company making a super military truck... sign me up!.  What isn’t to love about this concept.  I knew I always wanted to build something special with this so I put it on my list of builds and when the idea would come to me I would pull it up and begin the build process.  I started to get pretty obsessed with Baja trucks and how incredible those machines are and that’s when the idea came to me... a Baja ready LM002.  I told Carlos the idea and we both loved it!  What better treatment to a legend than to make it wild and fast for the open country.  Once I mocked up roughly how it would look and feel I knew instantly there was something special here.  When building these concepts I’m always looking for that spark or interest or through line narrative that makes it fun to create and share.  This project took way longer than expected but I couldn’t be more proud and happy with the final results.  Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the first ever concept Lamborghini Baja truck fit for the future and for...Armageddon.

THE ZODIAC - M.H.C. 005

From this angle you can see a bit more of that long travel suspension and how it could possibly work.  Before this build I had a very basic understanding of how trophy trucks worked but after this process I have a much better understanding.  Lots of hours spent researching and trying to understand what does what and what makes the best setups for stability and speed.  These might all be cgi builds but I like to think of them as being real enough to warrant the extra detail and attention needed to make them special and feel real.  The great thing now is that we have a pretty solid long travel chassis setup that... we can put on other builds in the future... yeah this won’t be the last truck build you see from the MHC :)

THE ZODIAC - M.H.C. 005

One of the fun yet challenging aspects of the LM002 build was creating/modeling the entire suspension and break setup.  These projects often take months to manifest and one of the key aspects to getting these builds to have the level we knew it needed to be was going to come down to building all the right parts and components.  These are by no means built by the spec to the real world as most of the components are based on drawings and loose concepts I managed to find while doing a deep dive into Baja truck suspension components.  Ironically I did model most if not all of it in a CAD based program called fusion360.  Nothing like super clean cad data for machined surfaces.  Out of all the parts the spindle was the most complicated as it’s the junction to so many other components and also... needs to look awesome :). Hope you all are enjoying a glimpse into how these things are made and why.  All of these acquired skills and growing knowledge just gets added and shared to all of the next projects onwards and upwards.
