THE INTERCEPTOR - M.H.C. 008

This car means a lot to me, it's a special one.  I remember as a kid seeing the Dodge MS4 turbo interceptor in the movie “the Wraith.”  It completely changed my perception of cars and that entire era had a huge influence on me.

Although I wanted to keep the original design as much as possible,  I did re-design some parts to make it feel a bit more modern. A totally unique design built with a heavy emphasis on aerodynamics to be able to go fast… really fast… almost 200 mph with an mid-engine 2.2 Liter outputting 440 horsepower. A BEAST!!!!

The original Dodge MS4 turbo interceptor was designed to be a race car more than a normal road car.  It was inspired by IMSA GTP class, in particular, the Porsche 962 with its very effective lines and impressive aerodynamic properties. Unfortunately, the MS4 never made it into a single race, but instead, became the official pace car for Indy races in the 80s.  So I thought it would be fun to redesign an alternative race car from the original MS4 with subtle changes on the carbon fiber body, adding some sharper angular lines with modern Michelin tires.

Setting up the perfect shader is really difficult and quite often I keep tweaking the base shader for every single project.  However, I feel my consistency has improved considerably over the years, and also collaborating with Ash has helped a lot in compiling a steady MHC shader library to use as a starting base.
